This morning one of my uncles, Freddie Gonzalez Sr., gave me a call to come and take a picture of a huge squid he caught. The interesting part is where he caught it.
He was doing his usual early morning run when a town council employee who was cleaning the beach area by Paradise Villas told him that there was an octopus on the edge of the sea wall. He went to check it out and to his surprise, it was a huge squid. Being a born Sanpedrano, the first thing that came to mind was “Ceviche”. He ran home to get a fishgig so that he can get it out of the water. When he returned to the site, he jumped into the water and caught it. Yup, just how they show in the movies 😀
I asked him what might have drawn him so close to the sea wall and he thinks it’s because fishermen usually clean fish on that area in the afternoons and throw the fish innards so that other fish feed on them.
Here are a few photos of his catch of the day! I hope you enjoyed this post and remember to share on your favorite social network 🙂
